Larry
Schwarz worked in the broadcasting industry
for fourteen years. In 2004, he left the world of media to become a
tour director and now leads long distance bus tours.
In 1989,
without a dime in his pocket, Larry moved to Los
Angeles. Having no experience in radio, he
started at the bottom as a part-time call screener at KFI
AM 640. Within two
years, he worked his way up to become the producer of The Tom Leykis Show, Los Angeles' number one afternoon
drive radio show. When The Tom Leykis Show
moved to WRKO AM 680 in Boston, he moved
back East and brought the show from twelfth place to
second place in only three months.
In 1994, he took a job as
associate producer at the CBS Radio Network's
Gil Gross Show based in New
York City. After two years, he
decided to test the waters of daytime talk television and
worked as an associate producer at The Montel Williams Show and later at The Maury Povich Show.
Larry has a strong passion for
independent travel. He has been to all 50 states and 89 countries. Places off the beaten
path are especially appealing...such as Afghanistan,
Colombia, Iraqi Kurdistan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Turkmenistan,
and the West Bank & Gaza Strip. Friends and peers are continually amazed
with his incredible sense of direction and impressive
collection of maps.
Few people can brag of their
own "stupid human trick."
Larry can play music on his teeth by striking the back of
his thumbnail forcefully against his front tooth. He
plays many perennial favorites in perfect tempo. In 1997,
he appeared as a guest on
Oddville, MTV. On February 15, 2001, he was a
guest on The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno. In June 2007 he appeared dressed as
a giant hand in
The Pennsylvania Hand Band on NBC's summer
hit America's Got Talent.
Instead of going to college,
Larry has educated himself by immersing himself in
countless books, newspapers and magazines. As a result,
he is knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, and he holds
a strong belief that life experience is the best teacher.
Larry was born in New
York and raised in New Jersey.
He has lived in Los Angeles, Boston, New
York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.
